ARE YOU READY FOR RRSP SEASON? Wednesday, January 19, 2011 Dear Member-Partners and Friends, As we approach the RRSP season, I wonder if you are aware of two very important facts that can affect your pursuit of Intergenerational WealthTM. First, did you know both the Traditional REIT Units and the REIT’s Income Priority Units, which are tax-efficient to begin with, are eligible for investment within the tax-shielded confines of a RRSP? That's the case, of course, but the good news doesn’t stop there. In addition, both the REIT units and the IPUnits can be included in other tax-deferred plans – such as RRIFs, RESPs, DPSPs, LIRAs and a tax-free savings account (TFSA), further extending the range of tax-planning options. Second, just as you have regular physical exams, from time to time you need to check the health of your LEAGUE investment portfolio. Why? Because without even noticing, your needs may have changed. Even if retirement is still a long way off, you may find that your investment needs have changed – because, say, of a birth in the family.
